RAM RACING WINS 24H SERIES

RAM Racing has taken the 2015 24H Series GT3 championship title at the penultimate round of the season, Barcelona 24 Hours, after finishing in third place, the team’s fifth consecutive overall podium of the year in the #30 Mercedes SLS AMG GT3.

Continuing its 100 per cent championship podium rate, the team fought a tough battle to stand on the third step with drivers Tom Onslow-Cole (GB), Thomas Jäger (DE), Jeroen Bleekemolen (NL) and Paul White (GB).

“It was unfortunate that we couldn’t take the championship title with a race win but it wasn’t meant to be here in Barcelona” commented Team Principal Dan Shufflebottom. “The team has done an amazing job all year and we’ve enjoyed success in some of the biggest endurance racing challenges in the world.”

This is RAM Racing’s second international GT championship win in three years. The Silverstone Park-based team took the European Le Mans Series GTLM title in 2013 before contesting the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2014.

“Many teams take three or more years to win a championship so this makes me extra proud of the crew who have delivered in every race from day one to today to earn us two international championship trophies for the cabinet. This 24H Series championship win is for all of them.

“It’s a fantastic series, which is well-run and has a great atmosphere, so I’m sure we’ll be around for a while. We really want to end the championship with a race-win, so we will be bringing our A-game to Brno next month, and preparations and plans for Dubai 24 Hours are already underway.”

The 12 Hours of Brno takes place on 9 October 2015. For more information go to www.24hseries.com

Driver quotes:

Jeroen Bleekemolen: “It was a really good weekend with RAM Racing at Barcelona 24 Hours. I was impressed by the whole thing - the pitstops were slick, the set-up of the car was spot-on and we were all well-prepared.”

Tom Onslow-Cole: “It’s unbelievable to stand here as championship winners before the season is over. It’s my first international championship-win and it’s been such a pleasure doing it with RAM Racing. I look forward to many more successes with the team… I’m sure there is much more to come!”

Paul White: “After the way RAM Racing have conducted themselves all season there could be no other winners. It is an absolute pleasure to drive with the team and with these team-mates and I can’t wait to get back out there in Brno.”

AMG factory driver Thomas Jäger: “Once again we have three Mercedes SLS AMG GT3s on the podium and, in addition, the RAM Racing car has taken the championship win. To do this in the last year of the SLS proves it is a very good endurance car. I am happy that at the end of the lifecycle it is still so competitive and that’s why we are expecting to have so many Mercedes AMG GT3s on the grid next season. Congratulations to everyone at RAM Racing, I’ve enjoyed racing with the team all year.”
